How to install Elastix Elastix is a Linux-based software PBX and VoIP Internet phone system for enterprise use. It was designed as a successor to the Grandstream HT series of business products and has been sold under the Elastix brand since 2004. This document tries to guide you through the installation of Elastix on your computer, as well as on an old Pentium-III computer that is connected to the internet with an Ethernet cable. We will be using some tools such as Putty, PuTTYgen and WinSCP for this step by step tutorial. Get the latest version of Elastix from http://www.elastix.org/en/download/ and unzip the file in your computer. Download and install PuTTY on your computer: http://www.putty.org/#download . Make sure to download the appropriate installer for your computer's operating system and language (i.e.: 32 or 64 bits). Download and install WinSCP: http://winscp.net/eng/download.php . Make sure you download the appropriate installer for your computer's operating system and language (i.e.: 32 or 64 bits). Download PuTTYgen from http://sourceforge. net/projects/puttygen/files/latest/download and install it. Open the PuTTYgen executable file and enter a passphrase. You will use this passphrase to encrypt the private key, as well as to authorize any changes you make from another remote computer. In our case we won't be changing anything, just creating a private key that we will use later on this tutorial. When asked where you want to save your private key, save it inside the "SSH-2 RSA" folder inside your Documents folder. When asked for a filename for your key enter a name, in our case putty_rsa2 . The passphrase is case sensitive so it's important to enter the passphrase correctly. When asked for confirmation, choose "Yes." Upon completion of the above steps, you should have a folder that looks like the following. We will use this key to encrypt our private key that we will need later on using PuTTY or WinSCP. Create a new text file in the windows explorer and name it PuttygenEditor . Enter your passphrase in all lowercase letters. Encrypt the private key. Right click on the file and choose "Edit with Puttygen." You should see the following window. To save your private key you need to click on "Save public key" and then enter a filename (in our case it is putty_rsa2 ) When done with this go back to the Windows Explorer and delete the unencryped private key. Make sure to delete it, otherwise you won't be able to connect with PuTTY or WinSCP. cfa1e77820
